This Gum Trees Series is inspired by the Australian Bush. It is not only a study of the beauty and resilience of nature in all her glory but a tribute to the rebuilding of life after fire and drought. A semi abstract study of the gum tree’s enchanting bark.

Eucalyptus or Gum trees, From the Greek work Ekaliptos, meaning something beautiful being well covered. Tall majestic Gum trees exude sap to break open their bark exposing the splendour of colours within. During the hot summer bushfire season the gum trees shed their dry bark to the ground therefore when fires erupt the dry bark is burned and the damp new surface of the tree is left virtually unharmed thus ensuring its survival.
